EXPRESSIVE on the LINE

My project was a slightly personal one, involving two important aspects of my life. My word was expressive and my job was to display and “express” this word while incorporating “the line.” I looked deep into the idea that excessive is an export of voice in an way shape or form. Given the fact that expressive is a very broad, wide word that can be taken many ways, I took the word and attempted to voice my own expressions. This was done by creating drawings with my own voice in mind. I took my drawings and imported them into photoshop. This allowed me to place my expressive feelings on a public wall bypassing any legal issues. By placing these images on walls around the line it creates a powerful voice of the artwork.

Experiment #56

THOUGHT EXPERIMENT

I decided to walk the line and conduct interesting and imaginative questions as i walked.

-What would things look like from above, perhaps in a helicopter, or just flying?

-How different would this path look if the trees were yellow and the leaves were purple?

-What would society look like if everyone walked on their hands?

-How difficult would life be if everyone was blind?

-How wold we communicate if we all spoke different languages?

-What would happen right this second if there were no police?

-What would doors look like if people didn’t have hands?

-Would we have sidewalks if everyone could float?

-What would we do with streets if we had hovercrafts?

-If everyone looked the same how would we recognize one another?

-Would we have street lights if the sun never went down?

-What would replace grass if it didn’t exist?

-What would the line look like from under the earths crust?

-If cars didn’t exist would we still ride horses?

-Would you drink water if its natural color was brown-green?

-What would the world look like if trees grew horizontally?

-How would people drive if streets/roads didn’t exist?

-How boring would life be without sound?

-What would sound look like if we could see it?

-What color would oxygen be if it was visible?

Exploration #16

I created a survey on do you like cold weather and asked people on the line as i walked.

(((ON A COLD DAY)))

Exploration #22

I sat on a bench on the line and observed people making quick sketches that interested me.

ALTERED STATES

I decided to walk the line in a unique way. I chose to close one eye and proceed on my path through the line. When i did this i noticed it was incredibly hard to understand the true distance objects were from me. It wasn’t too hard just walking on a path, but when i came in contact with a pole or a tree or stairs my perception began to slip away. For example i came what i thought was an arms length from a pole but when i reached out to touch it the pole was actually further than an arms length away. If i were to injure my eye i would have some problems interacting with objects.
